Ξεκίνησε σπουδές κοντραμπάσου στο Κρατικό Ωδείο Θεσσαλονίκης στη τάξη του Δημήτρη Ξενάριου το 1977. Έλαβε δίπλωμα κοντραμπάσου από την Ανώτατη Σχολή Μουσικής και Παραστατικών Τεχνών της Βιέννης, σπουδάζοντας με τον καθηγητή Heinrich Schneikart (1978-1985) και παρακολούθησε σεμινάρια με τους Jorma Katrama (2001)και Duncan Mac Tier (1996). Με την εκπόνηση της εργασίας "Τα ελληνικά κοντσέρτα για κοντραμπάσο", του απονεμήθηκε ο τίτλος “Magister der Künste” από το
Πανεπιστήμιο Μουσικής και Παραστατικής Τέχνης Βιέννης (2002) και ο τίτλος του διδάκτορα του Ιόνιου Πανεπιστημίου (2014) με την εκπόνηση της διδακτορικής διατριβής "Τα ανέκδοτα έργα Ελλήνων συνθετών για κοντραμπάσο και πιάνο στην Ελλάδα του 20ου αιώνα", τμήματα της οποίας παρουσιάστηκαν το 2010 σε συναυλίες-διαλέξεις στη Κομοτηνή, το Φεστιβάλ Κοντραμπάσου στην Ακαδημία Τεχνών Βερολίνου και στο Πανεπιστήμιο Μακεδονίας.

Από την αρχή της σταδιοδρομίας του συμμετείχε σε σύνολα μουσικής δωματίου, όπως:
Νοννέτο Θεσσαλονίκης (1986-1990), Μακεδονικό Συγκρότημα Μουσικής Δωματίου (1991-1994) με το οποίο κέρδισε το Α’ βραβείο στον 2ο Πανελλήνιο Διαγωνισμό Μουσικής Δωματίου της Hellexpo-ΔΕΘ (1992), QuARTo Basso (1998-2000), Tangos a Cuatro (2001-2009) με το οποίο εξέδωσε δύο ψηφιακούς δίσκους CD, pianoContrabasso (2010-) και ContraVento Quintet (2015-), παρουσιάζοντας έτσι ένα ευρύ φάσμα έργων μουσικής δωματίου που αφορούν και το κοντραμπάσο.

Υπήρξε κορυφαίος κοντραμπασίστας και ιδρυτικό στέλεχος της Συμφωνικής Ορχήστρας του Δήμου Θεσσαλονίκης (1987-2003) με την οποία εμφανίστηκε ως σολίστ στα κοντσέρτα για κοντραμπάσο και ορχήστρα των: Giovanni Bottesini (1989, Αμφιθέατρο Τελετών Α.Π.Θ.) και Γεώργιου Σαχινίδη (Α’ εκτέλεση, 2006, Μέγαρο Θεσσαλονίκης) και το 2005 με την Σ.Ο. του Μουσικού Σχολείου Σερρών παρουσίασε το κοντσέρτο του Serge Koussevitzky.

Από τις εκδόσεις Orpheus - Μ. Νικολαϊδης, Αθήνα, κυκλοφορούν εκδόσεις με την επιμέλεια της μεταγραφής πέντε τραγουδιών για κοντραμπάσο και φωνή (2021, ISMN: 979-0-801150-93-6), της σονάτας για βιολί και πιάνο αριθ.21 σε μι ελάσσονα του W.A.Mozart για κοντραμπάσο και πιάνο (2015, ISMN: 979-0-801150-64-6), καθώς και η κριτική έκδοση του κοντσέρτου για κοντραμπάσο και πιάνο του Γεώργιου Σαχινίδη, συνοδεία της ηχογράφησής του σε ψηφιακό δίσκο cd, σε συνεργασία με την πιανίστα Χριστίνα Σιδηροπούλου (2007, ISMN: 979-0-801150-30-1).

Την περίοδο 1986-2003 δίδαξε κοντραμπάσο και μουσική δωματίου στο Σύγχρονο Ωδείο Θεσσαλονίκης, Από το 2003 διδάσκει στο Τμήμα Μουσικής Επιστήμης και Τέχνης της Σχολής Κοινωνικών, Ανθρωπιστικών Επιστημών και Τεχνών του Πανεπιστήμιου Μακεδονίας, του οποίου διετέλεσε Πρόεδρος (2015-2019) και Διευθυντής του «Εργαστηρίου Τεχνολογιών Ήχου και Εικόνας (ΤΕΧΝΕΣ)» (2016-2023).

He first began to study the double bass with prof. Dimitris Xenarios in Thessaloniki's State Conservatory (1977) and continued with Prof. Heinrich Schneikart at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Wien, graduated with Diploma in Double Bass (1985) and attended also master classes with Duncan Mc Tier (1996) and Jorma Katrama (2001). Elaborating the Thesis "Die Griechische Konzertliteratur fϋr Kontrabass", he was awarded the “Magister der Künste” title of the Universität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Wien (2002) and after his DMA/PhD dissertation "The Greek composers’ unpublished works for double bass and piano in the 20th century Greece" he nominated “Doctor” of the Department of Music Studies of the Ionian University in Corfu (2014) sections of which were presented in 2010 in concerts-lectures in Komotini, in “The International Double Bass Convention” at the University of Arts in Berlin and at the University of Macedonia in Thessaloniki.

From the beginning of his career, he participates in chamber music ensembles, such as: Thessaloniki’s Nonet (1986-1990), Macedonian Chamber Music Ensemble (1991-1994) with which he won the 1st Prize at the 2nd Panhellenic Chamber Music Competition of TIF HELEXPO S.A. (1992), QuARTo Basso (1998-2000), Tangos a Cuatro (2001-2009) with which he released two CD’s, pianoContrabasso (2010-) and ContraVento Quintet (2015- ), thus presenting a wide range of the double bass chamber music works.

He was a founding member and the principal double bassist of the Symphony Orchestra of the Municipality of Thessaloniki (1987-2003) with which he appeared as soloist in concertos for double bass and orchestra of Giovanni Bottesini (1989, AUTh Ceremonial Amphitheater) and Georgios Sachinidis (First Performance, 2006, Megaron Thessaloniki) and in 2005 with the S.O. of the Music School of Serres in the concerto of Serge Koussevitzky.

In collaboration with the Music House of Athens "Orpheus - M. Nikolaidis", he edited the adaptation of "Five songs for for double bass and voice" (2021, ISMN: 979-0-801150-93-6),  the no.21 e-minor sonata for violin and piano of W.A. Mozart for double bass and piano (2015, ISMN: 979-0-801150-64-6) and with Christina Sidiropoulou (piano) the critical edition of the concerto for double bass and piano of Georgios Sachinidis with thw recording in incuded CD included (2007, ISMN: 979-0-801150-30-1).

He taught double bass and chamber music at the Synchrono Conservatory of Thessaloniki (1985-2003). Since 2003 he has been teaching at the Department of Music Science and Art of the School of Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts of the University of Macedonia. He participated in workshops, masterclasses and conferences, served also as the President of the Department (2015-2019) and as founding member Coordinator (2016-2023) of the "Laboratory for Sound and Video Technologies (ARTS-Lab)".
