Orchestra was founded in 1987 by composer, conductor and pianist Aleksandar S. Vujić with a group of young and talented musicians. It was one of the first private orchestras in socialism. In addition to all the difficulties Sinfonietta has managed to hold for 30 years playing uncompromisingly only art music.

The first symphony concert was held in SKC in 1988 (J.S.Bah - Art of Fugues, W.A. Mozart - Misa Brevis), and the choir "Branko Cvetković" was created with soloist. The first foreign guest appearance was at Athens 1989 (Spiros Masis - the premiere written for the Symphony, J.S. Bach-De minor concert for piano, W.A. Mozart Divertimento No. 2), and the soloist Igor Lasko -piano was formed. The members of the orchestra were students, soon afterwards, with the great efforts of the founder and conductor A. S. Vujić, the orchestra becomes professional in every aspect, organizational and artistic achievements.
