Orchestra was founded in 1987 by composer, conductor and pianist Aleksandar S. Vujić with a group of young and talented musicians. It was one of the first private orchestras in socialism. In addition to all the difficulties Sinfonietta has managed to hold for 30 years playing uncompromisingly only art music.
The first symphony concert was held in SKC in 1988 (J.S.Bah - Art of Fugues, W.A. Mozart - Misa Brevis), and the choir "Branko Cvetković" was created with soloist. The first foreign guest appearance was at Athens 1989 (Spiros Masis - the premiere written for the Symphony, J.S. Bach-De minor concert for piano, W.A. Mozart Divertimento No. 2), and the soloist Igor Lasko -piano was formed. The members of the orchestra were students, soon afterwards, with the great efforts of the founder and conductor A. S. Vujić, the orchestra becomes professional in every aspect, organizational and artistic achievements. The first concertmaster of the Sinfonietta was Aleksandar Štukelja (1987) Then Ivana Marinković, Ljuba Mihailović, Ljubiša Jovanović (Germany), Vladimir Koh, Igor Vasiljević, Vladimir Marković, Marko Josifoski, Edit Makedonska, Vesna Jansens, Jovana Vukušić Burkhart (Denmark) Tijana Milošević, Nemanja Ljubinkovic (Great Britain), Darko Kodžas (Luxembourg) and others.
As conductors, besides Aleksandar S. Vujić were Darinka Matić Marović, Dejan Savić, and by foreign Nikos Eftimidis (Greece), Matthias Gebl (Germany), Tošio Janagisava (Japan) The orchestra also worked without a conductor; with violinist Alexander Brusilovsky (Paris) and Sreten Krstić (Munich).
It will be remembered that the president of Cyprus after the concert in Nicosia, went through the protocol, rolled out a podium, congratulated and shook hands with all the members of Symphony-Belgrade.
